NIPPON REFINE CO.,LTD. / Corporate Information

Greetings

President & Representative Director Yasuhito Kawase

Many of the reasons why abnormal weather has recently become more frequent is supposed to be due to the global warming caused by increased emission of carbon dioxide etc. It is a common issue of all countries in the world to reduce the amount of carbon dioxide emission and stop the global warming.

In Japan, 2.3 million tons of new solvents are consumed per year, and after use, 1 million tons are emitted into the atmosphere, but most of the remaining 1.3 million tons are probably incinerated as gas or waste solvents.

On the other hand, the amount of recycled solvents is only 190,000 tons per year, and this amount has not changed within the last 10 to 20 years.

I think that the reason why this situation has continued for at least 10 to 20 years is because the supplier, user, and the concerned authorities have not seriously considered recycling of solvents up to now.

When solvents are manufactured, in general, petroleum consumption is more than the weight of the solvent itself. Solvents are in the category of volatile organic compounds (VOC), and as such, volatile and flammable. When solvents burn, the production of carbon dioxide is 3.5 times of the weight of the solvent.

However, for recycling and refining of solvents, distillation technology is mainly used, and the energy consumption used for that is only a fraction of the energy necessary for manufacturing.

Therefore, to use new solvents and not to recycle means that not only does it contribute to global warming by emitting massive amounts of carbon dioxide through the manufacturing process of solvents and the disposal process (incineration) after use, but it is also a waste of the increasingly precious oil resources.

Nippon Refine has a wide variety of technologies that could be used for reuse of solvents (VOC).
  • Technology to recover solvents that have evaporated back to liquid
  • Technology to separate and refine the collected waste solvents
  • Management technology to make it possible to use at the same process again
  • Safety management technology to refine while ensuring safety
Based on these technologies, we are able to help you in various areas.
  • Offsite recycling (to recycle and refine at our plants)
  • Onsite recycling (operation and control)
  • Design and marketing of equipment for recycling
  • Refining new solvents to a higher grade with stable supply
Why don’t you collaborate with Nippon Refine on resources and environment?
